GFAF Expo San Francisco 2014!

February 5, 2014 by Sarah 19 Comments

Another Gluten and Allergen Free Expo has come and gone…and we had a blast! I had the privilege of being on the blogger team again this year at the GFAF Expo in San Francisco. I got to bring my husband with me too! It was a great weekend getaway for us and we stuffed ourselves with gluten free goodies. So. many. samples. Seriously. It’s no joke when I tell you we can home with 4 over-the-top filled bags. Crazy. Don’t worry…I’ll be giving away a swag bag to one of you!
I always feel so official wearing a blogger badge. Getting in with this cool pass and noticed by a few Sarah Bakes Gluten Free Treats fans. Pretty nice perks of being on the blogger team, I must say!

The best part of going to the GFAF Expo (besides being there with my amazing husband), getting to see my gluten free friends! Erica from Celiac and the Beast is just too much fun. Love that girl. Kyra from Kyra’s Bakeshop is pretty much the gluten free cupcake queen. She’s won Cupcake Wars 3 times! Can’t wait to see both of these lovely ladies in Portland in September!

Zest Bakery sure outdid themselves with this AMAZING cake for the expo! Well, the inside isn’t real cake, but that sure is many hours of real fondant work. It was a showstopper. They were also giving out their cake samples to try. If you’re in the San Francisco area, be sure to stop by the 100% gluten free Zest Bakery!
Anytime I have with this guy is precious, especially getting away for an entire weekend. I just love spending time with man. Kevin has celiac disease so he was in heaven, being able to eat all of the samples at the expo. I look forward to going back next year!
I totally cheated and one (or two) of these gluten free egg rolls from Feel Good Foods…and it was totally worth it! They are gluten and dairy free, but do contain eggs. Amazing flavor. Now I just need to find them in my local grocery store, like now.

Hey, it’s Annie from Annie’s Gluten Free Grub and KC from G-Free Foodie! I was so excited to finally get the chance to meet these two awesome gals! Annie is just too cute for words and you have to check out her gluten free recipe blog. KC is super cool and is the founder of G-Free Foodie, a great website filled with recipes and resources. They also offer their g-free foodie box, which can be customized and delivered right to your door!

So happy to be introduced to these fruit and veggie bars from Just Great Stuff. Organic, gluten free and vegan, packed full of antioxidants and over 7 servings of fruits and veggies in each bar. The Superberry is my favorite, but the chocolate-coated, Chocolate with Greens is pretty fantastic too. These are my new favorite on-the-go snacks.

Discovered this new skincare line and it’s fabulous! Love Lady products are organic, gluten free, and smell amazing. I picked up the solid lotion moisturizer for my son, Kaden. He has eczema on his leg and this has already helped so much. He can put it on himself because it’s roll-up solid lotion. Perfect for my little guy.

Red Apple Lipstick is a totally awesome company! They create gluten, paraben and bpa free cosmetics. They are known for their amazing lipsticks and lip glosses (which I adore). They also make quite the assortment of beautiful eyeshadows. Too many to choose from. Be on the lookout…I’ve got a giveaway from Red Apple Lipstick coming up soon!

Enjoy Life products have become a staple in our lives. Their products are all free of the top 8 allergens, which makes this mom very happy! They have so many yummy bars, chips, cookies, snacks and don’t forget the mini chocolate chips. I CANNOT wait until their dark chocolate morsels are available in the stores!

Have you tried Plentils from Enjoy Life? Super yummy flavors and all gluten/dairy free! They are completely addicting too. I open up a bag and it’s hard for me to stop. I like to keep them all to myself (the kids will never know).

Sprout’s Farmers Market probably had the best booth at the Expo. They were seriously stocked with gluten free snacks and treats! They were handing out crackers, popcorn, fruit bars and lots of new products. I’m a huge fan of Sprout’s and shop their regularly. They carry all of my favorite gluten free products and are always having great sales!

My bag is full and I’m ready to head home. What a great weekend! Hanging out with my awesome husband, discovering new gluten free products and hanging out with friends. If you ever get a chance to go to a GFAF Expo near you, try to make it happen. It’s totally worth it!

It’s giveaway time! I was loaded up with more gluten free goodies than I know what to do with. I’ve put together a GFAF Expo Swag Bag to send to one of my amazing readers (it could be you!). The giveaway includes…

My most recent discovery is Popcorn Indiana Kettle Corn. It's so good… my husband and I ate an entire bag of the chocolate peanut butter flavor in one sitting.

This isn't a food item, but a lotion bar. I see that you purchased one for your son. I found a recipe and tweaked it a bit to fit my needs:

I did find that weighing produced a much better bar, and then used less shea butter than cocoa butter made for a firmer bar. Also added about a tablespoon more beeswax. Check out her site for other homemade personal items such as tooth powder and tooth paste! All gluten and yucky free!

I recently discovered PUREnola. It's made locally and is a "cluster" snack much like granola. It's gluten and dairy free and delicious!

I'm so sorry I missed the event. I'm so glad you had a fabulous time – it looks like it was a treat, just like your recipes!! 🙂

Angie's Popcorn is 100% certified gluten free and comes in all sorts of great flavors. I just picked up Vanilla Cupcake flavor for valentine's day but people die for her chocolate drizzled flavors too. I also love them because they are local for me in MN and I love to support local businesses!!!

We recently just came had Popcorn, Indiana Drizzled Kettlecorn. Oh my goodness. It was amazing! Unfortunately we live where I have to order gluten free online and it's so stinkin' pricey. Our stores 20 miles away just do not carry much. 🙁 We would love to win this!

My new addiction is the gluten free "S'moreables" by Kinnikinnik. The flavor is so delicious, I eat them by themselves, with almond milk or tea, chocolate-coated, or with almond butter! ~Rachel M.
