I love the delicious smells that come out of my kitchen in the month of December. I'm not sure which is my favorite though...chocolate peppermint or gingerbread. They might be a tie. There is something so warming and comforting about the smell of fresh baked gingerbread. The depth of the molasses and the spice from the cinnamon and ginger. My husband and I both have a sweet spot for homemade granola. There's just nothing like it. It's good for breakfast or a snack. I wanted to make a granola ... read more

gluten free pumpkin granola
I'm not a morning person and it's rare that I eat right when I wake up. I'm just not hungry. I will usually have a cup of coffee and then wait until I'm ready to figure out what's on the menu for breakfast. When it's a busy morning, I'm in need of something quick to eat. Cereal is ok, but it gets boring. Oatmeal is filling, but is best when it's cold outside. What about granola? Yes, I do love granola! My mornings just got a little bit sweeter! I was in the mood for a new granola recipe when I ... read more

Don't these look tasty? I've been testing recipes lately for chewy granola bars. I don't like to buy them at the store...they are filled with too many ingredients and are just too easy (and inexpensive) to not make myself. Plus, homemade granola bars taste so much better! I'm sharing a recipe for gluten free honey nut granola bars over at Ask Anna today! Granola bars are a great snack to take on the go, but the ones you buy in the store, are full of sugar and completely unnecessary ingredients. I don't know about you, but I like to know exactly what my kids are eating. Their tiny bellies need to be full of good, quality food. A happy, healthy child makes a mama happy too! Kaden and I made a batch of peanut butter ... read more
gluten free nutty granola
Let's talk about oats. If you have celiac disease, you can't just go out and buy the standard rolled oats. You see, just about all oats are manufactured alongside wheat and so there is pretty much a guarantee that there is cross-contamination. When oats are grown in the field, they don't contain any gluten...it just gets mixed in when they are processed. Big bummer. So in our house, we only cook with certified gluten free oats. They do cost a bit more, but we sure can't live without steal ... read more
